A Note from Alex & Charlie,
We are among the 5.6 million people under the age of 18 in the United States whose everyday lives are impacted by food allergies. Simple things like ordering food in a restaurant or eating at a friend’s house is not so simple. We have to constantly ask about everything we eat. Does the food contain one of our many allergens? And in the back of our minds, we wonder if the next bite we take is going to cause a reaction. It is annoying and scary. We are not alone in this world. There are roughly two kids in every classroom in the United States that are affected by food allergies, and about 32 million Americans are known to have food allergies. FARE is at the forefront in fighting for a cure and raising awareness for people like us who are afflicted with food allergies. This walk will help us raise money for FARE so they can keep fighting for all those suffering from food allergies today and so future generations do not have to suffer like we do.
The FARE Hometown Heroes Community Walk is a food-allergy-friendly event, but it is not food-free. Please remember to read all labels, and enjoy samples off-site at home.
The walk will take place rain or shine.
Why We Walk
Our son suffers from a severe peanut allergy that he may never grow out of. He needs to know he has a village that will support him and understand his needs. We walk for Jacob Maxwell.WHY DO YOU WALK?
