Welcome to my Team Page
1 in 13 children are affected by food allergies. That's 2 in every classroom.
We’ll never forget the day we got a call that our 7.5 month old baby was having an anaphylactic reaction to his first sip of formula. After an ambulance ride, hospital stay, and visit to John’s Hopkins, Liam was diagnosed with a dairy and egg allergy that we’re not sure he will ever grow out of. As his parents, we will do everything we can to make sure the environment he grows up in is a safe and accepting one.
It wasn’t until Liam’s diagnosis that we realized how much of life is food related. Liam’s allergies challenge his ability to partake in life moments that most families take for granted – restaurants, play dates, parties, trick-or-treating, and the list goes on. Something as simple as sharing a toy or giving a high-five could quickly become tragic. Food allergies impact every moment of our lives.
There is currently no cure or treatment for food allergies...but there is HOPE! That’s where FARE comes in. Research is essential in finding a cure, but awareness is a matter of life or death for the 15 million people affected by food allergies in the US today. Awareness that a dairy allergy is more than an upset stomach from milk; awareness that non-food items often contain hidden allergens; awareness that washing your hands after eating could be the difference between another day or a life-threatening emergency for an allergic child. Awareness is key.
If you are able, please consider making a donation to help support this cause. Any amount helps, and when you donate, you help FARE fund food allergy education programs, advocacy and awareness initiatives, and world-class research. Together, we can create a better future for all who are affected by food allergies!
They say it takes a village to raise a child, but it takes a league to raise an allergy hero. Thank you for being part of Liam's League!
